what does the "copy here" or "paste here" in Word

when right clicking on a selected word or sentence I receive sometimes the
usual menu but sometimes a "copy here" or "paste here" option.
What does this option do?

If you have selected text, I can understand getting a Copy command. If there
is text on the Clipboard, you would get Paste as well. If you click in a
word (or select it?) and your last previous action was copying something to
the Clipboard, I could see that Paste Here might be appropriate. Are you
saying that these commands appear on the shortcut menu or that you get a
sort of popup or ScreenTip with only that option?
