What Do You Want For Christmas?

B

Bob Adkins

Freeware wise, I mean. :)

Over the years, I have found favorite Shareware and shrink wrap software
than can not be replaced without a substantial drop off. I'm sure everyone
has. Here's what I want old Santa to bring me!

Program...To Replace...

Picture viewer... ACDSee Classic
Backup program... Second Copy 2000
Picture printing... XaraX or Pics Print
Copier program... Photo Copier Pro
Benchmark program... Performance Test
Antivirus... Nod32
Button launcher... Blanch
CD Copier... Alcohol 120% or Blind Read
Integrated CD Burning... Nero

Come on Freeware elves, get busy! Take off those fuzzy gloves and get
coding!

I'm sure I left a few out. Can anyone add to the list?

***Merry Christmas to all***

Not exactly freeware but, the only things I would love for christmas is, a
bigger hard drive (I'm currently running on a 2.5gig) and more memory (I've
only got 128MB in my main PC (this one) and 96mb in my test system (now
running XP Pro)).

Greetings...

Picture viewer... ACDSee Classic

I want an ACDSee that was as fast and un bloated as version 1! I still use it - I've
tried the rest and nothing compares... Irfanview is utter hopeless crap!!!

I'd like a host of simple small programs that do specific tasks:

A button that simply rebuilds the icon cache, Or if Sandy Claws is listening -- Bee Icons
(currently trialware, I might actually <urp> buy it - I like it!!) ...

A nice simple tray popup that tells me my free space on a drive. Not some useless
resource hogging bloatware that makes my system crawl (are you listening Mr Norton?)

A good registry cleaner NOT bloated with a lot of other multi meg utilities... That
doesn't wipe my recent files listings in other software...

CDR Packet writer that plays nice with Nero...

An at home searching spider that runs in the background at low priority.

I could go on....

Hi Kanda,
I want an ACDSee that was as fast and un bloated as version 1! I still use it - I've
tried the rest and nothing compares... Irfanview is utter hopeless crap!!!

I use ACDSee 2.46 classic. It has some extra junk in it, but is still the
leanest, fastest pure pic viewer on the planet.
I'd like a host of simple small programs that do specific tasks:

A button that simply rebuilds the icon cache, Or if Sandy Claws is listening -- Bee Icons
(currently trialware, I might actually <urp> buy it - I like it!!) ...

I think I may have one for you. It's called "Fresh Icons". It's 1 file, and
19K. Let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.
A nice simple tray popup that tells me my free space on a drive. Not some useless
resource hogging bloatware that makes my system crawl (are you listening Mr Norton?)

Maybe "Disk Mem Tray".

A good registry cleaner NOT bloated with a lot of other multi meg utilities... That
doesn't wipe my recent files listings in other software...

Easy Cleaner breaks things down into small tasks. You can clean 1 thing at a
time. It's one fat 1.9mb executable. Big, yes, but very unobtrusive and only
1 file. Fast scanner, too. http://www.toniarts.com/index.htm
CDR Packet writer that plays nice with Nero...

HA! Now you're asking too much! :)
An at home searching spider that runs in the background at low priority.

Hey, that *would be cool...

***Merry Christmas***

Well, what with SpamPal and the new Anti-Spam bill signed into law this
week, I'm very optimistic that Spam will all but disappear.

But still, an open season on spammers has a lot of appeal...

***Merry Christmas***
