What are the recommended practices for single users?

Hello, I'm not sure if this really has been addressed, but I have been doing some reading around on the internet and am getting confused

I recently formatted my computer and installed Windows XP Pro. I'm the only one using it. It defaults to the Administrator account, which is fine. However, my question is, should I be using this account? I've heard from some that it doesn't matter, or that I really should only use that account for install etc.... and create another account (with admin rights??) and use that

Basically, how safe is it to use the default administrator account as the everyday use account? What are the best practices? Any recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Greetings --

The built-in Administrator account really isn't intended to be
used for day-to-day normal use. The standard security practice is to
set a strong password on it and use it only to create another account
for regular use, reserving the Administrator account as a "back door"
in case something corrupts your regular account(s).

You wisest course of action would be to create another user
account for your daily use, and copy desired the files and settings
from the Administrator account to this newly created user profile.

I see that excludes the user's registry, i.e. NTUser.dat, NTUser.ini
(what does the .ini do?) and the associated log file.

How does one migrate those settings to the new account?
