I always have been wanting to ask thi
"What is the CTRL + ALT + DEL screen used for in Windows 2000/XP/2003 svr. The help says hitting CTRL + ALT + DEL is an added security feature and stops saying just that

I wanted to know what purpose(s) does this box serve.

20 years ago this key combination was invented as a simple way to restart
the IBM PC computer should it fail.
Microsoft has adopted it for Windows, and only the kernel (OS) can detect
this combination has been pressed, so it cannot be intercepted by any
3rd-party program, therefore it's safe to enter a password during logon.
