Welcome Screen

Pat

I used to have my system reboot to the Welcome Screen
with all my kids and my log-ons. After updating from
Microsoft Windows downloads, all I get is the user log-on
(for me alone).

I tried to go in as the administrator to activate
the "Use the Welcome Screen", but it doesn't allow me to
choose that option within Netware Client Services.

HELP!!!! I just want to be able to have anyone walk up
and be able to log on to their own sign-on, not mine!

Thank you.

Hi Pat,

If Netware is installed, you cannot use the Welcome screen. If you don't
need it (do you?), then uninstall it from the properties of your connection
in the networking folder. Right-click it, choose properties. Select Client
Services for Netware and remove.

Rick, thanks for the response. I don't know if I need
Netware. What does it do for me?

Sorry, but I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough
to really get the job done. I'm not afraid to try
anything so just let me know, if I don't need it, it's
gone!

Thank you.

Just a guess,
go to control panel and User accounts
see if you have other accounts listed there.

If so then see if they are turned on.
If turned off turn them on.

If none others creat one and see if
the next time you boot you don't get other Names at the splash screen

Ensure you have a password on your account.
Remember it.

Write it down

Hi Pat,

Chances are that you don't, just uninstall it. It is a client for a Novell
network, and outside of a company environment, you likely wouldn't need it.

I checked in the control panel and the accounts are
active for my kids.

Until I get this resolved, I don't have my password
active. I'd like to keep them in their restricted
worlds, but can't do that easily with this problem.

The screen says that this is related to Client Services
for Netware and if I want to use the Welcome Screen I
have to uninstall Netware.

I don't know what it does for me, or what it doesn't do.
I'll uninstall if it won't effect my other programs. Any
help on why I have it (I must have installed it at some
point)?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

It may have come from somthing you installed. What sort of network
(dial-up/broadband/company server) connection do you use?
