I have been working on a friend of mine's machine on an
off for weeks now and he has a roommate and we are trying
to enable the WELCOME SCREEN in XP. His machine was
purchased with XP Pro loaded.
I have made sure the Winlogon strata exists in the
registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
and has the DWORD: LogonType is equal to 1,
but it refuses to show the Welcome Screen. When I go to
the CONTROL PANEL (expert mode) the option to CHANGE THE
WAY USERS LOGON is not there and cannot be chosen. I
have verified that the MSGINA.DLL is correct for the
machine and I have used TWEAKUI FOR XP to set the Welcome
Screen to appear. Nothing works.
Can anyone assist me in this matter...it is making me and
him nuts. There are three accounts (all with Admin
privs) his, his roommates, and the Administrator. We
have tried the accounts with and without passwords.
Still nothing.
A Million Thanks,
Curtis
