Welcome Screen Changed

Not sure if this is the right newsgroup to post in, but if it isn't I
apologize in advance.

As of 9:30pm CST tonight, my Welcome Screen with the two screen names
changed to I'm guessing the WindowsNT logon screen where you have to manually
type in your names and password. It happened after the computer locked up
during a dvd back-up. I've browsed the internet for solutions and came across
one where I looked it up in the registry for the logontype DWORD and changed
it's value to 1 in hopes it would force it back to the WinXP welcome screen.
Even changed it to 0 after it '1' failed to work and then back to '1' again
and rebooting. Nothing worked, so I'm at a loss at the moment.

Any insight into what happened is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any question asking help for Windows XP is OK here AFAIK

..... snip .....

Have you tried this?

Control Panel -> User Accounts

Click on "Change the way users log on or off"

Look for "Use the Welcome Screen" and click on it to put a tick next
to it.

Click "Apply Options"

Hope this helps!!

Yeah i tried the Use Welcome Screen thing... funny thing was it was already
checked when I went to see otherwise. So I unchecked it, rebooted, rechecked
it, rebooted and it was still doing the same thing. ><
