How do we get rid of the welcome page at startup, I have to click twice to
get to the desk top page.

I have the "requires user password" box unchecked and still I have to click
several time (through 2 screens) to get to the desk top screen

Open up the Welcome Center, look down to the very bottom. There is a
checkbox in there: "Run at start up."

Uncheck it.

Restore your PW as it was. The PW has nothing to do with this window.

You've gotten good answers, but I'm going to guess that you're not talking
about anything to do with logon but rather with that Welcome Center thing
that appears after you get to your Desktop. If my guess is correct, then
the second time you reboot look in the lower left corner of the Welcome
Center and there is a box you can check to tell it not to display again. In
my experience, you don't get that box the first time you log onto your user
account but it will be available the second time.

I believe Mark misunderstood what you meant by welcome page. The answers
from Malke and AlexB are probably what you are looking for.

I have tried the uncheck and it has no affect on the opening of two pages
that I have to click through to get to the desk top. No passwords are
involved.
