Weirdness in date fields: Transferring data from excel

Hi all,

Using Office 2003, I tried to transfer some data from excel sheets using
import and then an append query.

All the data fields were transferred wrongly and arbitrarily.

Is there a way to overcome this feature?

I would think you would need to count the number of (space) followed by
any letter plus 1

You need to show us what it looked like in Excel and then in Access -
otherwise your guess is as good as anyone.

Was it wrong on import or after append?

Well, it looked like dates, but arbitrary dates, some went ahead, some
lagged behind...

In Excel it looked like let's say 14.05.2005 and in Access it looked
like 06.07.2005 Wednesday...

It was wrong after import. The imported table had the wrong data, append
was OK.(I think, as I did not check all the dates)

Do you mean to say all is well? If not, paste a few records of the data -
Excel, import, & append.

I must have been answering a different question, or this is the Twilight
Zone.
