Weird WinXP Shutdown error

Navodit

Hi

I recently installed windows xp on my laptop (Acer Aspire 1302 XC).
Occasionally there seem to be problems in shutting down the laptop. Despite
repeated attempts to shut down the laptop, it does not shut down and stays
on. I need to physically remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter to
switch it off ! On other occasions there seem to be no problems in shutting
down the machine. Has anyone faced problems like this with XP before ? Is
there a workaround to this kind of behavior ? Any help/suggestions wd be
appreciated. Thanks.

You might check for any news bios versions for your computer. I had a weird
problem with 'advanced power configuration interface' settings that cause my
HP Pavilion notebook to refuse to power down completly, or wake back up from
standby mode. The problems didn't surface until I installed SP2 for XP, but
after I got the updated bios version from HP, all was well.

Check with Acer and see what there is.
