Weird - Opening Access over network

H

I've had this happen several times and don't know what to do about it or what
causes it.

If I have some databases on a network share, frequently shortcuts on a
workstation desktop will not open the DB when launched. If you open Access
first and then tell Access to open the DB, it will open. Or if you open the
DB directly from the network share it will open. And from that point forward
the DB will launch from the shortcut... until you reboot your workstation or
(I think) log off and back on. It isn't a rights issue because it happens to
administrator as well as restricted accounts.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

We've had several simialr problems with shortcuts, although not your specific
one.

Believe or not, the problem and the solution was in Internet Explorer. Even
if you don't use IE (we don't) it remains like that beast in Alien I with
it's tentacles embedded in other vital functions (such as the operation of
cross-network shortcuts) so that you can't get 100% rid of it. The usual
Microsoft "marketing" plan.
