Weird Behavior in Word 97

Running Word 97 in XP Home. It has worked for many years with no problems.
All of a sudden yesterday it starting exhibiting this weird behavior. When I
try to print, there is a short pause while nothing appears to be happening,
then Word disappears. The document disappears too; i.e. it does not print
and it cannot be found in the printer cache. Even tried printing to a PDF
file using pdfFactory Pro, and it does the same thing. No error messages or
anything, just POOF...gone. Tried rebooting. Tried reinstalling Word. No
effect. Any ideas?

Hi Kevin:

You might wish to check out the following MSKB paper-
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q254232/ Some problems where Word97 crashes
involves an "Invalid Page Fault in MSO97.dll". MS Word 97 will stop, hang,
and even crash without the Print dialog box never appearing.

One particular issue that MS mentions is:

"This problem may be related to a conflict with the IBM Client Access/400
software that is used to connect Intel-based workstation computers to IBM
AS/400 computers. Also note that other programs that modify the printers list
may cause this problem. "

Check to see if any recent software installation could be conflicting with
your MS Word installation. This can particularly be the problem if your MS
Word 97 installs perfectly well without the issue on another computer and if
other programs are able to print out well in your problem computer.

Cheers,

Al

Also note that other programs that modify the printers list may cause this
problem.
