WEI processor score seems low

I upgraded to an Athlon X2 6000+ over the weekend. My WEI processor
score barely budged from 4.3 to 4.5. I was expecting a score of about
5.0-5.2 with that change.

Everything is stock with no overclocking.

I can appreciate that this is only an imperfect index but something
seems odd here.

In any system there has to be run built in for newer and greater
stuff. You are near the top of the list, it only goes to 5.9, and the
rest is for those Raptor hard drives that SCREAM, much faster ram,
faster video card, etc, etc ,etc

Yeah, that does seem kind of low. I have an X2 5200+ and it scored a 5.2
for the CPU. Perhaps an issue with Cool'n'Quiet causing your CPU to
throttle back more than it should?

I turned off the Cool and Quiet, No impact. I ran the Sandra
benchmarks and it indicates performance less than a Athlon 64 X2
4200+. Something is fishy byt I don't know where else to look. Bios
settings seem fine. The motherboard is an MSI K9N4 SLI. I will try a
couple of more things this after noon but any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

Yep it sounds like your MB is not set for the MAX settings for your
new processor. Check with the MB maker which should have settings
for the range of recommended processors on their website. If your
MB does not support your processor directly then set to the highest
closest lower values.

Something is definitely wrong. What motherboard do you have? I have an
Asus Crosshair and I consistently get a 5.4 with that same CPU.

Very imperfect. My advice is to ignore those numbers (I wish Microsoft
hadn't started scoring hardware this way). Is performance
satisfactory? If so, there's no issue.

I can appreciate that the scores are imperfect. Performance was just
OK and I noticed the same issues with other benchmarks.

I reinstalled Vista ( I had replaced the motherboard without doing a
reinstallation) and everything fell into place.
