web pages with red'x' instead of buttons or graphics

I am trying to resolve the problem with ie6 sp1 and the
red 'x' or jpg logo that displays on web pages in place of
the graphics. If I refresh several times I can usually get
the whole page loaded correctly. Does anyone know how to
correct this? Thanks for you help. Linda

Take a look at these:

If nothing works, try this:

Rename your HOSTS file to OLDHOSTS (all in caps) and then reboot.
To find the HOSTS file go to:
If you have Win 2K/Xp: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Or if you have Win 98/ME: C:\WINDOWS

If you don't see the HOSTS file then it's because it is hidden, so set your
computer to "Show Hidden Files and Folders."

Hope this helps,

Debbie

Hi Linda,

I have been having a very similar problem recently, so I will be watching
this thread. I have a robust broadband connection and IE6-SP1 with all the
current updates applied. I have eliminated my ISP or my home network as the
culprit, since I can plug in my laptop to the same cable, and not experience
this problem at all. I notice the problem especially with pages with lots of
graphic elements. A few graphics fill in immediately, but then it just sort
of hangs. Often I have to hit "Refresh" two or three times before a page
loads successfully.

All ideas welcome!
