Does anyone know of a good starter menu that has vertical/horzontial
controls. I am looking for something that I do not have to pay for and that
highly customizable.

I like the look and feel of the way MSDN or microsoft sites look.

In 2.0, out of the box, you have options, as the control is CSS enabled and
allows horizontal and vertical. To go beyond this, you will have to search.
The commercial controls are not horribly expensive, for businesses, but may
be prohibitive for you. Open Source sites, like SourceForge, CodeProject,
etc., are other places to look.
