Wdie Format Scanner Recommendations

I am looking to purchase a large format scanner, preferrably 42" wide.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

What about Graphtec, Widecom or Xerox?

Do you know of any with automatic thresholding to provide good scans
from bad quality originals?

Thanks,

And what is the nature of the source elements,
and the desired final raster size?

Below 22 Mpix, don't rule out sticking the
originals on the wall and using a digital SLR.

The originals are various engineering drawings sizes up to 42 inches
wide. Output format would be bitonal, grayscale.

While I have no recomendations for scanners that would cover such a large
area, I do wonder why you need to do this. What is your primary objective;
to digitize for same-size reproduction or to replace the original
drawings?
