I have 2 problems at the moment my autoscan will not work and I have just
received a message on the home page stating that I have not done a scan for
the past 6 days when I have been doing manual scans Full system scan this
morning and regular quick scans every other day!!!!!

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?????????? regarding the message
for not scanning. My last full system scan date shows 7/5/2006 which is
strange since I did a full scan this morning. HELP PLEASE SOMEONE

badru12;

Are you running CCleaner by any chance, and do you have cleanup checked for
Windows Defender in the Utilities category? If so, try unchecking it and
then running a scan. Having this checked removes the history of when the
last scan was run.

Hello Paulashy;
Badru12 is using WinXP Pro as his operating system so his case might be
different than yours. What OS are you on? There is currently a problem
with autoscan using System Task Manager and Win2000. Microsoft is aware of
this problem, and we believe they are working on a fix.

That's elementary.

CCleaner is free ... and cool ... so lots of people use it to purge life's
little annoyances. Unfortunately, if it is not configured correctly, it will
delete useful stuff that gets tucked away in the nooks and crannies the
CCleaners seeks out.

Oh yeah, and it comes up as a "new" question every few days. ;-)

Similar utilites will cause similar problems. CCleaner is just the most
likely candidate.
