My Kodak software for my camera and Sansa Dispatcher for MP3 updates are both
programs marked as blocked. In WD it says not yet classified. How do I
change this? I need both programs but especially my Kodak. Please help...am
getting very frustrated. Thank you in advance!!

You can`t change the classification, this is done by joining the Microsoft
Spynet community (Tools>Microsoft Spynet) but you may be able to renable the
programs thru Tools>Software Explorer. As far as I`m aware, WD doesn`t block
applications without user input. It will usually give you a warning with the
options to block or allow the process. Have you taken a look in the Software
Explorer? There you will see what programs are loaded at start up by default
with the options to Disable or Enable.

Are you sure it is Windows Defender that is blocking, and not your firewall,
or some part of a security suite? Items not yet classified are not normally
blocked, I believe.

Is this on Vista, or XP?

I use Kodak Easy Share software without any problem. WD has never blocked my
Kodak software.

I have the same kind of thing going on only for me it is my sound driver, a
program called soundman.exe and one of the drivers for my printer, called
lxddamon. WD has them listed as "Not yet classified" I know it's not any
other program or firewall. None of the security programs I run would stop
them from running and I turn off windows firewall. I use a hardware
firewall. If there isn't a way to get WD to let these programs run, I'm
going to junk the thing. WD is just an extra anyway. The security programs
I run are better than WD, I just run it for a small little extra.

I also use a hardware firewall....I try to unlock the programs but it takes 3
or 4 times before it will fianlly run. Just gets a bit frustrating.
Hopefully it resolves itself soon. Or I'm with Silverghost and will junk WD.
Anyway...thanks for all the replies.

If you shut down Windows Defender--see the choice nearly at the bottom of
the options--does the program work?

So--you don't do anything to Windows Defender, and you try running something
several times, and eventually it works? This really does not sound like
Windows Defender is the issue at all, If it blocks something it says so
loud and clear.

The Sansa Updater does not work until I physically unblock it in WD. It
tells me it blocked it from start up. I have been doing this for 2 weeks
now. How does it become a confirmed program? the Kodak software only runs
once I shut off the WD. I have even upgraded both...no change. Thanks again
for all your assistance.

I too am having to unblock programs and having to unblock them everytime I
turn the computer on. Is there a way to permamently authorize this program so
that windows defender allows the program to start up normally? I will not
wait for some "group" to authorize this program or until this time have to
unblock the program "manually". I will simply uninstall windows defender and
the problem will be solved but I would like to use this software.
