WD 300 GB: hidden flaw?

Fabien LE LEZ

Hello,

I intend to buy a 300 GB hard drive.

Since I'm satisfied with my 250GB Western Digital (2500JB), I consider
buying a 300-GB in the same series (3000JB).

Five weeks ago, it was really easy to find; but, nearly overnight,
most of the shops (here in France) stopped selling it. Now, only a
couple of small online shops have it, and a couple of other talk about
a delay of 7 to 10 days.

So I'm wondering: did WD temporarily stop producing it due to a hidden
flaw?
In short, is the WD 3000JB a good, reliable, silent hard drive like
its brother the 2500JB?

Thanks in advance.

I would guess the wholesaler in France ran out of the 300GB JB
I would seem demand was greater then supply.
I would also assume it takes a few weeks from the time the wholesaler places
an order
to when they would arrive in France.
