Right can anyone help figure out what's going on with this at all?

Job: FAAH0779_BDB287_MX1HVH_DRY_04
Server: S600
Status: VALID
Cpu Hours: 14.14
Claimed / Granted Points: 37 / 34

Right basically this is a Quad 900MHz CPU Server with 2MB Cache on each CPU, now i installed BOINC normally from the link found on WCG HomePage, but these jobs are crunching on for a while and when returned, the points are really shabby.

Does anyone know of any Linux Tweaks, or what might be wrong, and just an extra note, it's doing the same on my PC here, i never get returns of like Claimed 200 anymore.

Well ... over at WCG they call it 'cheating' and have done all they can to eliminate it ... Fine.

However ... me, I was just trying to use my PCs to their best advantage ... seems now a waste of time.

I personally object to be called a 'cheat' and was about to un-install all BOINC ... I still may do it, but my Linux boxes are not "enhanced" with anything. What do I use on Linux??????

So optimising clients is now classed as 'cheating'? That's ridiculous, we want to get as much out of the machines as we can, why settle for standard.

Anyway so mucks, what kind of Claimed/Granted points do you get from your Linux box with BOINC?

Quite interested as i haven't used BOINC on Linux before, i usually put it on Windows stuff.

Crap ... the average is 26 points. on the Window box, its 50ish.

It is all you can use with WCG ... was the only reason I chose this project ... now, well, I'm not a happy bunny. Cheat indeed???

Anyone want to be new Captain???

Your a great captain mucks, just take it with a pinch of salt what they said, i wouldn't take much notice of them.

And i expect the results i'm getting are fine then, as these CPU's are 900MHz so i always expect them to get lower values, but didn't expect them this low.

Actually apart from doing the Stats ... Ady, V_R & feckit do more ... I have become a little disheartened with the project ... I'll 'crunch' on, but I would rather just be one of the sheep.

If I can find out how to hand over Captaincy to another team member, I'm afraid I will.

Mucks,

I just been reading that whole thing and really couldn't give a sh1t about what they say....Its that Dagorath stirring the sh1t again, thats all he does....What does he know he's only been with the project for a few months....(April he joined...)

Anyway, the long story short is that the opimised client dont have an effect on WCG because of the quorum system!! Thats the whole point fo it.

This is just something that has been festering on other forums and now has filtered down to WCG, and Dagorath is trying to stir it.

Mucks please dont let it get to you.... :)

Muckshifter aka 007 will return in The Man with the Boinc Gun

Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest.
Nobody does it half as good as you.
Muckshifter, you're the best.

I wasn't lookin' but somehow you found me.
I tried to hide from your crunching that night,
But like heaven above me the spy who crunched for me
Is keepin' all my secrets safe tonight.

And nobody does it better
Though sometimes I wish someone could.
Nobody does it quite the way you do.
Did you have to be so good?
The way that you hold me whenever you hold me.

There's some kind of magic inside you
That keeps me from runnin' but just keep it comin'
How'd you learn to do the things you do?
And nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest.

Nobody does it half as good as you.
Muckshifter you're the best.
Muckshifter you're the best.
Muckshifter you're the best.
Muckshifter you're the best.

New abridged version.

Let me chip in my 2 cents Canadian. Dagorath is one of natures assholes. To much time on his hands and to little between his ears. He is a rejected wannabe CA, not that I think much of the CA's over at WCG. Several Original crunchers have left WCG over some of the CA's meddling.

Guys like Dagorath are found in every company and I tend to classify them as out of their depth in a car park puddle. This is one of the reasons I joined your team... NO BS no politics just some friendly folks. I tend to not bother reading or posting on WCG as its not worth the aggravation.

My 2 cents for whats it worth.

Your two cents is worth every penny ... :thumb:

Can I just reiterate that my request to retire from captaincy is nothing to do with WCG or any posts at WCG or anything to to with the internet. Just want to clear that up.

But err, don't let me stop you from voicing your own oppinion about what you think about some members at WCG. :D

Just give me two days grace folks, sorry for any animosity caused here.
