Wanted - Virtual Drive software

N

Nicetameetya

Hi - I need to be able to create a virtual drive on my hard drive so
that I can "mount" a DVD to that virtual drive in order to burn onto
another DVD. Is there any freeware software that will do this? This is
definitely learning curve time for me on this, so I'm not even sure
I've got the nomenclature right.

Not what you asked for, but LC ISO Creator will let you create an iso
image of the source DVD and save it to your hard drive. You can then
burn the new DVD from the iso:

You can download a trial version of Alcohol 120% here -

I don't know if the trial version will let you mount a virtual DVD but
the paid-for version does.

I probably should have mentioned that I already have a licensed
versions of UltraISO Media Edition 7.6x and Nero, which I understand
will work with (mount) a virtual drive.

Be careful to note this though:

"This version has an option to install client-side software applications
(DAEMON Tools Searchbar and Save Now) that deliver a limited number of
behaviorally targeted and contextually relevant coupons, ads and
comparative shopping results directly to consumers desktops - without
compromising the privacy, security or smooth functioning of peoples
computers! No URL hijacking or redirects! In order to support FREE
distribution of DAEMON Tools we highly encourage you at least to try out
this optional software!"

Personally, I wouldn't even TRY to install this stuff.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

Trialware isn't freeware. Neither is commercial software like the full
version of Alcohol. The OP requested freeware. Not only that, but this
group is supposed to be for the discussion of freeware. Please try to
refrain from the temptation to recommend non-freeware.

As for a suggestion that meets the OP's needs, this might work:

If a program is free for any duration of time under certain
conditions then it is freeware for that duration of time under
those conditions.

I assume from your cross-posting that you are a troll.

On the chance that you are simply misinformed, I ask you to go to your
nearest car dealer and ask for your free car. They'll let you have the
car for free for the duration of a test drive, so obviously the car is
free, based on your logic or lack thereof.

The fake "Dr" is definitely a troll and one that pollutes a number of
newsgroups. My advice ... don't feed him, it just makes him hungrier.
Just killfile the cross-posting self-promoting jerk.

Nero 6 has InCD and it works very well except that it (too often for
me) grabbed a hold of my CD drive and wouldn't let go! The only cure
was to reboot. Try it, If it drives you crazy there is no problem
uninstalling. I was using W2KSP4 at the time before I downgraded to
XPSP2 :) It maybe better on XP.

The *use* of the car would be free for the duration. Similarly,
it is the *use* of software that is free or not free.
