Want to stop Messenger loading.

I've stopped msn messengers (V7) options, and deleted the item from the
registry, but it keep coming back (to the registry), and even when I can't
see messenger in the system tray, it is still running, as I have Trillian
running too, and my MSN user name is online.... I want it to stop, I want to
start it, when I want, not when the PC wants too..

Can anybody help me to stop it running..

Regards.
Paul.

Start Messenegr, look for Options or Preferences, uncheck the Start with
Windows box.

I tried that, and even then the options are unchecked, I still get

"C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

being added to the registry, and I don't know why?

I'm thinking of making a .reg file that loads from the staup up, somehow,
but I don't know how...

Yes, both Windows Messanger and MSN messanger are paticualy anoying,
thats why i use gaim insted, not only is it far less anoying it’s ad
free. Anyway, in the options menu of MSN messanger you must specifi
you dont want it to run on startup, then you should run msconfig
(Start > Run | msconfig) go to startup and makesure it’s unchecked.

GAIM: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/

It would appear it was actually Windows Messenger that was loading, after
i'd removed it, Windows did it automatic update, and re-installed it... Now
I've upgraded it to version 5.1 I can actually see it loaded, so I've
changed it's options too, and it doesn't load on startup...
