Want to share scanner....

Am running XP on a Dell Dimension 8100. Also running XP
on a new Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. Installed software
for HP printer on laptop and can access it with no
problem. Just installed software for HP scanner on
laptop, but cannot access. Anyone know anything about
sharing hardware? We are connected via a Broadband Router.

Patti,

Is the HP scanner labeled as network ready? Very few are - and no SOHO models
AFAIK. Scanner use doesn't lend itself to sharing between multiple computers -
you have to go locally to the scanner and load it with material before using
anyway.
