Hi,
Can someone help me ? I am trying to install my Lexmark printer and it
doesn't work. I get the following message:
"16 bit Windows subsystem
C:/WINNT/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running
MS-Dos and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "Close" to terminate the
application".
I then have the option to click "Close" or "Ignore". Tried both but nothing
is working. I have also contacted Lexmark and they say it is a Microsoft
problem. I have Windows 2000.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I need my printer to work.

It's because one of the following files is missing from \WINNT\System32:
a.. Config.nt
b.. Autoexec.nt
c.. Command.com

Check to see that these files are there. If not, expand them from the
install CD and copy them to \WINNT\System32
They'll be in the \I386 folder as

Config.nt_
autoexec.nt_
command.co_
From a command prompt window, type

Expand /?
to get instructions for using Expand

Hello. I am currently using win2000 sp4 and also have lexmark X74/75
printer installed.
It works fine with me at this moment.
I remember to have problems when I tried to install lexmark printer from
windows2000. So, I installed lexmark using CD came from lexmark
company, then it was OK.
Try this way.
