WAN Miniport Connection

My internet connection seems to reset itself. I have aol. When i encounter a
problem connecting, I go into the control panel/network connections/ and find
a new connection labeled [The Internet (1)]. When I right click on it, it
says its a WAN Miniport (ATW) connection. When I delete it, my connection to
the internet works fine. But, later, or the next day, it's back again. What's
causing this, and, how do I correct the problem? I use Trend Micro and
AdAware regularly.

WAN Minport (ATW) is an installed service component of AOL. When set
to Manual or Disable as some recommend, it will still revert to
Auotomatic, and as you've seen it will also keep getting restored if
you delete it. It is said that if you reassign it a bogus driver that
it then may be deleted, but I have not done this.
