I'm a tech guy in a school system. We have Vista machines in a lab. Students
log on using a student/student login, so no one has their 'own' account.
We've locked them out of changing things, but somehow they've been able to
make changes to the wallpaper as well as the Word program.

The wallpaper is black. When you open up a Word doc the page is black not
white. It makes typing difficult with white letters and black background.

It only happens in the student account. I can log in as myself and none of
that happens. We plan to issue pwds to each student so that might 'fix' it.

Any ideas on how they get around the group policy lockout? How do I return
to the original setup?

Hi Ronald,

Logged on as a local admin (ie: outside the domain)? Registry HKLM branch
protected?

As to the Word background, I'd look at the normal.dot template as the
problem. Delete it from the user appdata folder. When Word is reopened a new
clean template should be created.
