W32.Netsky@mm

A friend informed me this morning that he just received an email from
me containing the W32.Netsky@mm virus. I immediately ensured that my
McAfee Virus Scanner was up to date and then ran a full McAfee Virus
Scan of my entire system. It found no problems.

Can anyone think how this email could have been sent given that my
machine appears not be to infected?

One reason.....someone who has your name in their address book is
infected....but most likely just one of those *ether* things.....I get tons
of them and they are usually from unknowns.....some have friend's names but
the are never infected.

Hope this makes sense......I am falling asleep........

Heather )

1) the email was harvested from a newsgroup and used to fake the return
address... a guess since it looks like the one used by the OP is
legitimate. If so, change it immediately.

Or 2) As in the above post both you and the recipiant are in a 3rd persons
computer that is infected.

Just in case, check your firewall logs to be sure nothing is sending out
stuff via its own email engine.

If you look up the description of Netsky on McAfee's site, you will get the
answer.
