Vuescan rejecting film loading? Or is it my scanner?

Hi,

I am doing scanning of various c41 films in various experimental
chemicals and am wondering if its vuescan or my coolscan 4000 thats
rejecting the film when loading or when trying to scan. Its dark, I
admit, but the frame spacers are clear..when I say rejecting I mean
that it loads the film and never locks onto it and then returns a "fast
blinking" on the led and ejects the film.

If anyone knows if its either/or it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Does NikonScan reject the film?

If it does, odds are it's the scanner.

If it doesn't, then it's yet another VueScan bug...

I've had that happen once or twice when the frame was too dark for the
scanner to focus on. (Nikon Coolscan IV & V). You might try turning
autofocus off. Hope that helps.

When troubleshooting, it's *always* a good idea to try available
alternatives no matter how little you normally use them. Same concept
as keeping a second web browser or graphics editor on hand for files
that aren't opening properly. So yes, try Nikon Scan and you'll at
least know whether the hardware behaves consistently.
