Vuescan - new features

Despite being a real "Vuescn Veteran,"

You have my sympathy...;o)
Even on a 3GHz processor movement of the sliders on the
new tiny diagrams is jerky and I did what I did so often
previously already: I reverted to an older well proven
version 8.1.30.

I seem to recall one setting to modify the way screen updates are
handled.

As far as I remember, VueScan default is to refresh the whole screen
after *each* keystroke!? Unfortunately this takes too long and it
causes VueScan to "eat" keystrokes i.e. they are ignored until the
screen is fully redrawn. The recommended "solution" is to turn this
screen refresh off. However, this also means the display will no
longer correspond to the settings and has to be updated manually. :-/

Maybe, you have this setting on, and that's why the movement of
sliders is jerky as the whole screen is redrawn every few pixels?
This new user interface is an enigma to me.

VueScan has a user interface!? Since when? ;o)

Despite being a real "Vuescn Veteran," I fail to discover
a proper workflow with this "new user interface."

I am a long time VueScan user to. The tiny histogram is of no use for me. I
have to check the white and black points in my graphics program:

10 adjust white and black points in VueScan (in 16 bit/colour)
20 save the image and import it automatically in my graphics program
30 check the white and blackpoints in my graphics program (Paint Shop Pro
version 9 - no not version 10)
40 if okay then goto 50 else goto 10
50 end

The former versions with the large histogram were much better in adjusting
the white and black points!

With kind regards,

It doesn't say "dramatically improved IR cleaning with Minolta
scanners", by any chance? ;-)

Yes, as a matter of fact in at least one of the
new releases it did said something like that! :)
