Here's my setup: Home PC =XP Pro behind a D-link(Di-514)
Broadband router connected to Speadstream DSL modem.
Brother's PC has exact same setup without the router.
Is it possible to VPN into my home PC from his or do I
have to buy a VPN router?

You can setup the home XP Pro box as a PPTP VPN server. I do that so I can access my home PC and
ActiveSync my iPAQ 5555 PocketPC remotely... See these pages for help...

How I do that...Ignore the PocketPC parts...

Note that you need to forward TCP Port 1723 and enable GRE Protocol 47 traffic through the router.
Some call that "PPTP Pass Through" or "VPN Pass Through". Check your users manual for the router to
see if that is supported, etc. Note this can be firmware dependent.
