VPN Question

Greg

I have a friend who is on the road quite a bit and he needs access to his PC
and files from many different locations and ask me for assistance. Using XP
we are setting up VPN as a service on an XP box with a static IP address
from his ISP. We are setting up a VPN client on his laptop. Now if we
establish a shared folder on the Home machine, as long as a VPN connection
is established he should be able to map to that shared folder from his
laptop. Am I correct in my thinking?

TIA

Yes, because the "N" in "VPN" stands for "Network", which means
that he is connected to his home machine as if we was directly
networked to it - except that it's much slower. A Remote Desktop
session would speed it up enormously.
