Hello,
I have a laptop running Win XP SP2. I have the folowing problem:
I have a VPN set up so that I can connect to my departmental network
from home and other locations. My home connection is through an ADSL
modem/router. I also use the laptop at another office location where
I
get a static IP over a T3 line.
The VPN is set up so that internet traffic goes through the internet
connection, and not through the VPN (split tunneling).
I have the following problem: When I connect to the VPN (from either
of
the above locations), all name queries seem to be automatically routed
to the PPP interface of the VPN. Even when I hardwire the DNS server
to be the "correct" DNS server for the home network on the ethernet
interface, dns queries don't get answered: they get routed to the PPP
interface, which I assume sends them to the VPN. OTOH, other packets,
eg, ping or http by ip address, get routed correctly.
(I used a sniffer to verify this)
Also, there is no problem with connecting to the intranet resources
(including printer).
No other user of the same VPN has this problem. I also have a second
computer, with Win 2K, that doesn't display this problem when
connecting to the VPN: all packets get routed correctly.
Any thoughts? I am a bit stuck. Thank you very much!
