VPN connection/share browsing issue

Hey Guys, I'm having a bit of a problem. My VPN server is sitting on 2003
enterprise. I've verified the server's working....two other machines will
connect fine and browse shares, etc. Here's my issue.

1. The VPN connects successfully. The server pings successfully.
2. I can pull up the server's website successfully in a browser.
3. When I try net use, i get error 53
4. When i try net view, i get the workstation service is not started, but
when i "net start workstation" it says that's an invalid service name.
5. I have disable the windows firewall.
6. I have uninstalled norton internet security suite and anti-virus
software, etc.

Any ideas where to start next?

Thanks!

I read the article, but I don't think it really applies to my particular
situation.

There isn't a problem with our server, the routers, or the firewall. Other
machines /do/ connect successfully and are able to pull up shares just fine.

If the machine connecting to the vpn had port 445 blocked, wouldn't that be
blocked by the windows firewall, which is off anyway?

Perhaps I read the article wrong...
