VPN Basics

I'm new to VPN networking and I have few questions about it. If anyone
could me help me started, I'd appreciate it.

I have an XP Pro and an XP Home computer on a local home network. I use a
Linksys router. Using the connection wizard, I was able to create a live VPN
connection between the computers. The problem is, I don't know what to do
next so I can browse the files and folders. I thought I'd see something in
Windows Explorer, but I don't. I'm supposed to have full access, right?

Also, the VPN client computer can't browse the internet while there's a live
VPN connection. IE simply times out looking for my homepage, but connects
just fine as soon as I've shut down the VPN connection. Anyone have any
thoughts on that? Thanks.
