I've been reading up on VPN becuase we are planning to implement a few tunnels for our small firm. Every place I am reading about VPN is explaining to me the "Ins and Outs" of the VPN , how to configure it, and what is needed but I'm really not getting an "ENGLISH" definition of VPN. Let me explain. These articles are all telling me that "VPN will alow me to have access to my LAN at work but it is not telling me how. So I figured if I ask some questions, this might help me get an idea if we really know what VPN can do for us so we can determine if we require this at our firm
1.) If we log on to the VPN server ( thorugh another VPN server or a VPN client software ) will our "mapped" drives that we use when we are at work automatically map
2)As I understand it, if we have two VPN routers that can be configured to a tuneel, these routers will ALWAYS be connected whcih mean there is no user intervention requried to hae access to the firms LAN from home ( lets say
3) Shared printers, etc that were mapped when physically at our firm, will be configured at a home that we access the firms LAN fro
Lets start with that
THanks
