I've noticed in the last day or so that as songs play on my latest version
of winamp I keep having to "touch" (slightly adjust) the Wave/mp3 volume
control on my general Windows sound control (not winamp) , upon which the
volume will suddenly jump up to 'normal', where before it was barely
audible. (I have to adjust the 'wave/mp3' master control - adjusting the
master volume control of my sound card or on winamp itself doesn't get the
sound play back to normal). The sound will return to barely audible at the
start of the next song, but as soon as I go to adjust the volume control on
the Wave/mp3 slider (again not on Winamp - on the control for my sound card)
the sound returns to normal.
I got pissed and reinstalled Winamp (newest version) and no difference - it
still does it. So the problem may be with Windows. This problem started
happening just about 1 or 2 days ago - it wasn't doing this before and MAY
have happened when I installed a plugin (which I've since removed with no
benefit) for winamp called streamripper which creates mp3's out of streaming
audio playing through winamp, but probably not. Or I started playing some
streaming audio recently (unusual for me) which may have started the
problem. But I'm just guessing wildly - what I need is to hear from someone
who has had the problem but solved it.
Does anyone please have any ideas of what this is about or what to do to get
my sound back to normal?
-thanks in advance,
