VNC viewer/server

Ryan Riel

I am trying to use VNC server on an XPE OS, for some
clients that use a linux system. After connecting to the
XPE system with VNC viewer, everything gets screwed up.
The application that I am running does not execute
properly and even trying to use a mouse on the target
machine does not work properly. Does anyone know if there
are any components that may help with using VNC? Or is VNC
viewer something that is not going to work with XPE?

Thanks,

Ryan

We are correctly using VNC server on a XPe desktop image. Note that we
install the server after the system has run FBA using the normal
install program. We have not turned it into a component.

Hi,

do you know which components are essential in order to have a functional
VNC server?
I installed the latest VNC (just the server as a service, no viewer) from RealVNC,
i.e. version 4.0, yesterday. I set a password, but the viewer on a client machine
keeps telling me there is no password.

Any idea?

Thanks

Not to sure what you could be missing. Do you by chance have EWF enabled and
stopping your settings being saved across power cycles.

EWF is installed, but disabled.
I'll continue investigating. Thanks for your answer!

I have it installed, and it works, but not very well. In
2000 it functions much better. I have a 3.7 version.
I'll try out the 4.0 and see if that helps. I also found
on the real VNC website that there is a known issue with
Windows XP. There is a problem with Remote Desktop and
Fast User Switching. I am going to try and remove the
components from my build and see if that helps.

Thanks for the response,

Ryan
