Visual Style Web Sites / Lists

S

Steve Wormuth

Hello,

I am using StyleXP and I was wondering if there is a good site with
Visual Styles out there... I tried themexp.org but I hate the
installs "wrapping" the styles in countless other programs, so they
are history...

One good thing would be a list for the styles. How do we know what
the latest version of a style is? There might be 5 different versions
of a style out there, and I could be using version 1.0.

Is there a site which lists all the good styles and where to get them
you all have found?

TIA
Steve

Google "stylexp visual styles" and you will find many sites with
visual styles without the wrapping which ThemeXP does.

Sad thing is that no other site has even 1/100th the files ThemeXP
does.

I have heard a way to avoid the wrapper crap with ThemeXP is to
download using Mozilla Firefox. Haven't tried it yet myself..........

Sorry, skullywag, but downloading with Firefox will only download the
same file you would download with Internet Explorer.

It seems that ThemeXP.org has chosen to include the crap files in each
self-extracting executable as a means of paying for their hosting. Of
course, they do provide a means of opting out of installation of the
crap files they include.

From reading in their forums......... I found this piece of knowledge.
The "wrapper" is added via web on only the first file downloaded each
visit. Download the exe file. Delete it. Redownload it, and you
will see it is no longer an "exe" file, but a zip. All other files
downloaded during same visit will also be zips (wrapper free). Worked
for me. Got a bucket load last night.
