Visual Studio Tools

Guest

Hello,

I have been wanting to learn about deploying my db as a stond alone app and
have done some reading on the subject. I know I need to use Visual Studio
Tools to create a runtime version. This said when I go searching to purchase
on various websites, I get lost with all the different version available.

Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions
Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition
Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite
Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professional
....

Could someone give me a little guidance. Am I even looking at the software?
I work alone developing db solutions to be deployed at my customers
workplace. My needs, i believe, are relatively straight forward.

Thanking you in advance for the input,

None of those are what you're looking for. You need the following in order
to create an Access 2003 runtime application:

- Microsoft Access 2003
- Visual Studio Tools for Office 2005 (which includes the Access 2003
Developer Extensions)

The ADE is the product that gives you the license to deploy the 2003 runtime
components and you have to have Access 2003 installed in order to install
the ADE.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/vsto/default.aspx or

details.

It might be worth emphasizing that the VSTO 2005 edition you need is *not*
the free "Special Edition" download. You need the full, non-free VSTO
version. That's the only one that includes the Access 2003 Developers
extensions.
