Vista - XP Pro Printer Sharing

G

Guest

Man this is painfull. All I was trying to do was allow a laptop running Vista
to access a HP 8250 printer attached to an XP Pro system.
I have followed Linda's walk thru but....... nada (See Below). The XP system
does not see the Vista system and the Vista system does not see the XP
System. Both systems workgroup name is WORKGROUP.
Both are I have loaded the Vista printer drivers on the Vista syste. I have
allowed print sharing. Still nada.
Any Advise

Linda's Walk thru
I have a vista laptop connecting through wifi to a Belkin ADSL modem wireless
g router and a desktop connecting through an Ethernet cable to the above
router. I have changed the workgroup on the desktop to match the vista
workgroup, the laptop shows on the desktop but I am unable to connect to it
or it's shared folders, but the desktop doesn't show on the laptop at all.

If I open the network map in vista, I can now see the desktop pc after
downloading
the LLTD Responder component (see article below):
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Windo...8eb8-45af-b063-4f50f5a77b291033.mspx?mfr=true

but I am unable to double click on the desktop pc to connect.

It must be due to the security features in vista, but it just wont work.
It's driving me mad!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Folder sharing is set up on both pcs for
the folders I need to share.

Awaiting with anticipation anyone that may have resolved this problem there
selves!

Can you ping each other by IP? If yes, make sure enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. This search result may help,
