Vista x64 networking & internet problem

Please help!!!!

After about 6 months of trouble free internet-access and networking between
my main computer (vista 64 ultimate) and my secondary PC (XP Pro64), I turn
on the vista PC one morning and I can neither connect to the internet or
network to other computers ...The only thing that was different was a BIOS
error message "checksum Bad" upon startup where I selected F2 (load default
settings). Internet explorer won't even connect to the default router page
http://198.162.2.1 !!

The network name has now changed to "unidentified network" with "limited
connectivity" and access set to "local only". The XP Pro64 PC on the other
hand, still works fine and can connect to the internet (and my renderfarm
computers) so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the router,
however it won't see the vista machine anymore . I have tried of every
troubleshooting procedure I can think of (listed below) with still no luck,
so if anyone has encountered this or knows of a solution please let me know.

Done so far:
1. repaired connection (in diagnostics)
2. automattically optained new IP address (in diagnostics)
3. tested all cables (cat6E)
4. updated router firmware
5. re-booted computers and router
6. tested with different router (setup error message: "couldn't find router")
7. reset onboard network adaptor
8. manually entered IP adress, default gateway DNS server info etc
9. rolled back network adaptor drivers
10. System restore taken back to a time when it was working
11. disabled IPv6 temporarily
12. enabled telnet
13. Manually entered the DNS search suffix "belkin"
14. temporarily disabled the firewall

p.s the router is a Belkin wired/wireless G modem/router,
Ethernet ports (2 on each computer) are both gigabit connections,
all computers share the same workgroup name,
network discovery and file sharing are all on
connection LED's on the ethrnet ports still work/flash fine,
there doesn't seem to be any conflicts in device mangager.

..and for comparision I have also listed the ipconfig for other computer
running XP Pro 64 (the one that's working ok) directly underneath it. Hope
it helps!!

Hi Robert

Firstly in answer to your question; yes I have already updated to the most
recent firmware for the router (which is a fairly recent model anyway). As
for the NIC, it's an onboard network adaptor (dual gigabit) so I looked on
the ASUS website and there doesn't seem to be any seperate drivers for the
network adaptor (mobo model: L1N64-Sli). Is it worth updating the BIOS?

Thanks for the link too. I tried all suggestions listed but still no luck.

These are what I did:

deleted default gateway 0.0.0.0
disabled Ipv6
turned off power saving option in network adaptor properties
created new registry key "DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle"
changed registry key "DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag" from 1 to 0
reset winsock.exe
assigned static IP adress info

Here's the Ipconfig /all after manually entering IP info:

C:\Users\Dan>ipconfig /all

WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : Belkin (I manually added this one)

NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Belkin
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 9:

Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

Any other suggestions??? If I bought a seperate NIC card would that fix it?
...or will I have to resort to a USB to ethernet connection?
