Vista with windows live mail

S

Sparky Pete.

Dear All,

Can anybody explain to me why I do not need to enter my password to access
'windows live mail'? On windows vista?

I found out by accident when I clicked on the cancel button (because I
changed my mind to log in) and it loaded the program up anyway and
synchronized with my 'windows live hotmail' account as normal.

So why do i need have a login in at all?

I think this is a very big security problem for 'windows Live Mail'? As all
you here about these days is identity this and that. Protect your emails etc.

Anybody know of a solution?

Do I need to notify Microsoft?

If so how?

Sparky.

First of all, this is not the best place to discuss Windows Live Mail
(WLM) issues since this newsgroup is dedicated to Windows Mail,
which is a different email program.

Suffice it to say, the sign-in you are talking about has nothing to do with
security. The optional WLM sign-in is for the purpose of connecting to
and synchronizing with a Hotmail contacts list. If you don't care about
a synchronized backup of your contacts, you can eliminate the sign-in
process: Tools, Options, Connection.
