Vista UTP Question

Dear all,

I need help to understand the UTP pinout scheme for use with Vista.

1) What is the difference, if any between the TIA/EIA 568B pinout scheme and
one that is just paired color in series (white orange, orange, white blue,
blue, white green, green, white brown, brown)?

2) Does non comformance to TIA/EIA pinout scheme impacts speed performance,
signal quality, etc?

TIA/EIA-568-B is a set of three telecommunications standards from the
Telecommunications Industry Association, a 1988 offshoot of the EIA.
The standards address commercial building cabling for telecom products
and services. The three standards are formally titled
ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.1-2001, -B.2-2001, and -B.3-2001.

It's got nothing to do with vista.
UTP wiring is the same for all OSes.

1) What is the difference, if any between the TIA/EIA 568B pinout scheme
and
one that is just paired color in series (white orange, orange, white blue,
blue, white green, green, white brown, brown)?

The correct wiring has pins 1+2 as a twisted pair,and pins 3+6 as a twisted
pair.
What you suggest will split pins 3 and 6 between different twisted pairs.

Yes. Very much so.
Don't do it.

An incorrectly wired cable may work OK if it's very short, but not if it's
longer. Like I said, don't do it.
