Vista upgrade problems - clean install

Mark K

I bought a Dell laptop 1501 computer late 2006 that came with XP media center
and a upgrade to Vista Home Premium. I finally decided to install the upgrade
from Dell and now my computer has many problems. I have upgraded the drivers
and installed updates and still problems exist, so I would like to do a clean
install, but I have read that it's not allowed to do a clean install from my
upgrade CD. I did't list the problems because there are to many and I have
fixed a few, but I feel a clean install is the best way to go. What is the
best way to proceed?

Hi Mark,

If you follow the instructions in my post 'Clean Install Windows Vista Using
Upgrade Media', also in this newsgroup (dated 9/21/2007), you should be able
to solve your problem. Before you do this, however, visit Dell's website and
download the appropriate software and drivers onto a memory stick. You can
then access the drivers during the setup of Vista. I enclose links below both
to my post and to Dell's download page for your machine. Please note that
this page only lists the 32-bit version of Vista.
