Vista trouble

Using Vista Home Premium...At this moment trying to install ActiveSync to
sync smartphones to computer. Installation from disc says Vista cannot allow
installation, when I go to Microsoft downloads ActiveSync downloads but
installation crashes. Vista has been a nightmare for me..resets itself,
crashes regularly and will not run updates. Any help would be appreciated.

ActiveSync is now obsolete on Windows Vista and has been replaced by Windows
Mobile Device Center, which is why installation is blocked.

Checked for hardware problems?

Brand new computer. I run diagnostics but everything shows working correctly.
What hardware problems would I be checking? What hardware would prevent Vista
from installing ActiveSync?

If you re-read your post you will find that you had two issues, ActiveSync an
system crashes.

If you will now re-read what Paul told you, you will find he answered the
two questions separately. ActiveSync is not compatible with Vista, use
Windows Mobile Device Center instead. He then told you to look for hardware
problems with you crahses and inability to run updates. Soooo you need to do
some diagnosis on why your computer is crashing and can't update. That's
different from the ActiveSync issue and could be many issues, to include
incompatibilities in your hardware.

InActiveSync has been a major p.o.s. ever since Micro$oft released it. It's
always been problematic. So don't feel bad, you have alot of company.

Cheers.

My PDA dell X50 with Windows 2003 2nd Edition with cradle sync, Vista Home
Premium computer, Windows Mobile 6.1, used to work fine but sometime in Dec
2007 just stopped working. Did some Widnows Update kill it? Don't know!
Talking to MS was useless. Now they don't even respond.
Basically all people with PDA device will have sync problem. Windows Mobile
2006 may be different.
