Vista SP1 RC breaks Flash.

Hi,

I installed the Vista SP1 RC without any problems in Vista itself.
However, I see one annoying problem: The Flash player/plug-in crashes
the two browsers I have tried running so far: IE7 and Safari. Suddenly
the browser hangs and Vista shuts it down. The first time it happened
Vista pointed to the Flash player. I have tried to uninstall Flash and
the problem goes away. Seems like Adobe needs to update Flash before
SP1 gets widely deployed.

Anyone else here seen this problem? Yes I now this is not the final
version of RC1, but still... :)

Thank you for your report. That's exactly what we expect to hear as we put
software out as BETA releases. We so much appreciate the fact that you are
prepared to test the software and point out its deficiencies. You are a
true and valued BETA tester. Now, if you'd keep your whining down, we're
sure that Adobe will eventually accomodate your needs. Remember, at
Microsoft, software is NEVER released before its time. Just look at the
release of Vista to appreciate how bug-free the release was because of all
you valued BETA testers.

Cheers.

Hey, are you for real? :) Actually, I'm one of those who thinks Vista
is the best that has come from MS since...errrm.....a long time ago. It
just runs, and runs, so I took a chance on the RC1 beta which also runs
it seems. Oh, and it looks great without any being yet another Apple
design copy. That's an achievement in itself these days.

And MS never releases before it's time? Again, are you for real? :)

"nostop", aka "doris" is a cross-dressing MS hating, lying linux troll.
He is a broke, unemployed (proly unemployable) miserable POS who can't
stand the success BG and MS has achieved. He is consumed with jealousy
and hatred for all things MS.
When you think about mentally deranged losers, he is at the very top of
everyone's lost.
IOW's pay not attention to him, he's a real as*hole!

I don't care if IE7 and Safari are now broken: what about a good
browser? HINT: Firefox. is it still working with flash and the BETA
software you so naively installed and are no whining about?

To be honest: I am really not interested if you care or not. The fact
is that there are quite a few people who use both IE7 and Safari. Since
Safari uses the FF Flash plug-in I would assume FF would have a problem
also, wouldn't you?

And I am not whining. I am reporting a problem. If you would bother
reading the whole post I add that I know it's a Beta. Even MS
encourages people to report problems with SP1. What I tried to achieve
was to find out if it was only me or if others have the same problem. I
was not looking for your infantile browser bashing. I keep forgetting
that people like you still frequent newsgroups. Thank you for reminding
me! :)

Yes,

I uninstalled Flash and the problem went away. When I reinstalled it I
had random browser crashes again, so the reinstall didn't solve the
problem. I wish it would have! :)

Go here;
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2

Download the Flash uninstaller.
Be sure all browser Windows are closed. Run it. Reboot.

Then download the standalone Flash installer;
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/ge...censing/win/install_flash_player_active_x.msi

Run it.

Let us know how it goes.

Actually if you report the issue to the Beta test program that's OK, but if
you report that software breaks and you KNOW you are using a BETA product,
you are WHINING!

Of course I reported it using the link that comes with SP1 for. I also
reported in in the MSDN forums which has a new forum dedicated for SP1.
I then asked here if someone else have noticed the same problem in
addition to confirm that I know it's a Beta just to make sure I
wouldn't get unfriendly responses like this one. Hoping for that was
the only naive part of my original post. Did you actually read it or
were you so busy being an a** that you couldn't be bothered reading the
whole thing?

All this trying to find out if it's something with my setup or a
problem with Flash/SP1 regardless of setup (graphics card etc.).

'nuff said from my side.

That seems to have done the trick! However, I had to get the FF Flash
plug-in as well since Safari uses that one. After having used the
uninstaller, rebooted and then installed again both browsers runs
without crashing. Unless MS or Adobe fixes this it will cause a lot of
headaches for the casual user when SP1 rolls out.

Again, thank you a working solution!

OK, so you're only 10. Don't worry Frankie Boy. Eat your peas and wait a
couple years and you'll get there.
