Vista SP1 - Fixes Available Now

R

Rick Rogers

Any hotfixes that apply to all machines are available on Windows Update.
Fixes that are specific to certain situations, and are not appropriate for
all users (as they may cause other issues) are available via an online
request form:
https://support.microsoft.com/common/survey.aspx?scid=sw;en;1399&showpage=1&WS=hotfix

Downloading hotfixes from any other source may open the user to infection
from a virus, trojan, or other surreptitiously added malware.

The reasoning behind the date of SP1 is flawed. It has far more to do with
the release of Longhorn Server than Christmas shopping. If you go to the
site referenced it is little more than a collection of links to Microsoft KB
articles and a lot of Google ads. To me it looks like a site designed to
harvest click throughs for the ads as much as anything else.

Why would they be needed? I thought vista was supposed to be the most
robust and most secure MS ever.

It is. That doesn't mean that there won't be any 'design modifications'.
You've obviously never been in industry.

Ya, but the one I just got was a security fix.

Actually, I have. I did scientific software support and development for 30
years. The difference was that what I delivered worked.
