Vista sees xls file as Adobe

When I create an .XLS file in Windows 2000, explorer sees it as an Excel file.
When I transfer it to a Vista environment, explorer sees it as an Adobe file
but fails to open it because it is an .xls file.

Hi,

Click the Start orb, click on Default Programs on the right. Select
"Associate a file type or protocol with a program". Scroll down the list
until you find .xls, click on it, then click on the Change Program button.
Select Microsoft Office Excel, and make sure the box is checked for "Always
use the selected program to open this type of file". Apply, OK etc.
