vista repair

I have found to my dismay, that my computer is still recognized as XP after
an upgrade to vista premium. I have all of the vista programs and displays
but when I try to install a patch I get a "does not apply to your system"
message. I can't install program updates from the windows site because it
say's I'm running XP. Is there a repair option on the install disc and if
so, how do I run it?

Boot from your Windows Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the
setup screen, select 'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows
select Startup Repair option and follow instructions.

You could also try doing an inplace upgrade over the current installation,
simply insert you Windows Vista DVD, click Install, when the option appears
in the initial phase of setup to Upgrade, click it.

uncleyuk,

Does the message you receive state that you are "running XP" or does it
simply state that the program does not apply to your system?

Many times you will receive the message that something "does not apply to
your system" because you already have it installed or the program is not
necessary because you don't have the underlying program on your system.

Have a nice day.
