I've had severe issues with multiple versions of Vista experiencing sound
problems with USB headsets in conjunction with tlephony applications such as
Skype, Webtrain, WebEx, and even some Microsoft apps, such as Powerpoint.
Switching between windows causes an immediate jump to 100% in sound control
panel microphone volume on the default device. Can be extremely irritating
as I'm in a meeting and click on another window, nearly killing everyone I'm
talking to. On occasion I'll be moving the volume down and it'll catch me
doing it and jack it back to 100% as I'm trying to lower it. We'll fight
there for a few minutes until I give in.
Disabling exclusion mode does not correct the issue. Same hardware/software
combo on XP does not experience the problem. HAve tried on Home Premium,
Enterprise, and Ultimate, both 32 and 64 bit versions with the same problem.
Have tried different headsets (2 different CS-50's, and Voyager 510USB).
Have removed Skype and Plantronics PerSonoCall, and still have the problem in
Webtrain, WebEx, etc. Have removed ALL audio devices and let windows
reinstall, will no success.
Out of ideas and hoping someone has experienced something like this before
and can help. Thanks.
